Dear Wounded Warrior Supporters,

Every day many of our military veterans who fought for our freedom struggle immensely with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS). The symptoms sadly result in hardships such as financial difficulties and emotional instability often leading to homelessness.

For Army and National Guard veteran, Ryan Donkersley, the symptoms of PTS he gained from three tours in Iraq have deterred him from living a life of normalcy.

“After leaving the military, I tried living with a friend, but the residents at the complex did not want me to be there because I have a service dog,” said Donkersley, 31. “Renting was out of the question as I am financially unstable because my VA stipend has not gone through yet.”

Thankfully, another nonprofit organization told Ryan about Wounded Warrior Homes and that has forever changed his life.

“It makes life so much easier while living there,” said Ryan. “The house is beautiful, modern, clean and has everything a person needs to live. Plus, living in a stable place provided by Wounded Warrior Homes has tremendously helped me cope with my PTS. It’s a great blessing.”

With a roof over his head, Ryan has been able to figure out what he really wants to do in the future.

“Like most veterans, I am here to help my country. For me, that will be achieved through the use of my skills and knowledge of film and media where I hope to work with nonprofit organizations and help them gain better exposure and awareness of their valuable missions.”

Donors like you are the reason veterans like Ryan have been able to cope with their PTS or TBI and finally find a place they can call home. American heroes need your help now more than ever. We hope you will join us in the fight for our nation’s veterans by contributing to those who have fought for our freedom and are still fighting personal battles at home.

Wounded Warrior Homes provides furnished transitional housing, hands on resources, and a defined path for each member to transition from active duty military service to independent living. We are answering the call to those who have served our nation in the world’s most dangerous places and are accepting the opportunity to provide them with a home in which to recover and take control of their lives.
